Notice the Brook Rifled Cannon located behind him in this photo from the Civil War Naval Museum, Columbus, Georgia. The Brook Rifled Cannon was retrieved from the bottom of the Chattahoochee River, south of Columbus, Georgia. The cannon was part of the armament of a Confederate ironclad that was scuttled and burned to avoid capture by invading Union troops at the end of the War. The Brook Rifled Cannon is now resurrected, refurbished, and fully operational. Come join The Gulf State Guards in firing the cannon in April each year at The Civil War Naval Museum.
